Hi guys,

ich muss nun leider zugeben, dass ich seit April 2012 3kg zugenommen habe!!! =(

Ich versuche zwar möglichst gesund zu essen aber man muss hier halt auch einfach mal alles ausprobieren ;) Ein paar meiner Lieblingsrestaurants / -cafes stelle ich euch hier vor:

The Original Pancake House
(1756 South Pacific Coast Highway  Redondo Beach, CA 90277)
Wenn du mal ein richtiges amerikanisches Frühstück geniessen willst, dann bist du hier richtig. Die Pancakes sind köstlich und auch der Rest ist einfach unglaublich gut. Natürlich sind die Portionen übertrieben gross und auch jeder Vielfrass kann sich da nicht durch beissen ;) Die Leute stehen übrigens am Wochenende immer schlange. Man muss also mit 20-30 Minuten Wartezeit rechnen, was sich aber lohnt!

If you want to eat a real american breakfast then your on the right address. The pancakes are delicious like the rest of the dishes. The portions are colossal - of course, it's America - and even a chowhound can't eat it all ;) By the way, people are waiting in line all weekend. You have to wait about 20-30 minutes but it's worth it!

Ein süsses Thai Restaurant, dass bei den EF Studierenden sehr beliebt ist - vor allem bei denen die in der Residence leben, da es in der Nähe ist. Meine Lieblingsmenüs sind "Pinapple Fried Rice" und die "Golden Bags". Man kriegt riesen Portionen und zahlt so gut wie nichts (fast alles ist unter 10$)! Zudem ist die Bedienung immer freundliche und zuvorkommend.

A cute Thai restaurant which is very popular among EF students - mostly because it's so close to the residence. My favorite dishes are the "Pinapple Fried Rice" and the "Golden Bags". The portions are huge and the price little (almost everything's under 10$). Furthermore the waiters are always friendly and very obliging.

Asaka Sushi and Grill

Ich bin zwar kein Sushi Fan aber dafür einer davon, alles mal auszuprobieren. Meine Freunde mögen das Sushi and Grill gerne und das Menü ist wirklich sehr vielfältig. Zudem ist das Restaurant sehr schön eingerichtet und man fühlt sich sofort wohl. An einem schönen Sommertag kann man auch draussen auf der Terrasse sitzen. Hier ein paar Bilder:

I'm not that into sushi but I think you have to try everthing once. My friends are big fans of the Sushi and Grill and the menu is really manifold. Besides, the restaurant looks really nice and fashionable. I love it when I feel cozy at the place that's not my home. It's a big plus! And there's nothing better than a beautiful summer day when you can sit outside and enjoy the sun and good food.  

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good Stuff (1617 Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach, California, 90277) Fast gegenüber von der EF Schule befindet sich das Good Stuff Restaurant. Dort isst man immer gut und preiswert. Leider ist die Bedienung zum Teil nicht sehr freundlich und auch nicht aufmerksam. Trotzdem ists einen Besuch wert.

Turkey Sandwich & Fruits Good Stuff (1617 Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach, California, 90277) Across the street from the EF school is the Good Stuff restaurant located. It's good and the prices are totally OK. Unfortunately the waiters sometimes aren't really friendly and attentively. But worth a visit ;)  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andere gute Restaurants & Cafés / other restaurants & cafés I recommend: Urth Cafe, Santa Monica (2327 Main Street, 90405) Gladstones, Pacific Palisades (17300 Pacific Coast Hwy, 90272) Beachcomber Café, Newport Beach (15 Crystal Cove, 92657) Rooftop, Laguna Beach (1289 South Coast Hwy, 92651)  Since I have to try every kind of food here, I already gained 3kg since April 2012!! =( I really try to eat healthy but it's not that easy ;) I still hope to loose weight before I have to say "goodbye" to California ;) XOXO Nissy

Goodbye Sophie ♡

Hey lovies,

heute ist ein seeeeehr seeeehr trauriger Tag! Sophie fliegt nämlich heute zurück nach Deutschland!!!

Was ich euch über einen Sprachaufenthalt mit EF sagen kann: man lernt viele Leute kennen, manche wachsen einem ans Herz, mit manchen geht man in die Klasse, manche mag man nicht so..aber vor allem lernt man Leute aus aller Welt kennen. Wenn es dann zum Abschied kommt, weiss man, dass man welche bestimmt wieder sehen wird, manche man vielleicht gerne wieder sehen würde und manche die man zum Glück nicht mehr sehen muss ;) 

Obwohl ich weiss, dass ich Sophie zu 100% wieder sehen werde, will ich nicht das sie geht! Ich war mit ihr in

• Santa Monica
• Malibu
• Hollywood
• Downtown LA
• Santa Barbara
• San Francisco
• Cancun, Mexico
• Huntington Beach
• unzählige Male in Hermosa Beach
• sie war dabei als ich mir mein kleines Tattoo stechen lassen habe
• sie war mit mir an der Film Premiere
• sie hat mit mir einen Hai gestreichelt
• sie hat mir mit das erste Mal in ihrem Leben eine Waffe abgefeuert

....ich könnte noch Stunden so weiter machen.

Sophie ist ein Goldschatz - mein Sweetheart! Sie ist das Baby in unserer Gruppe (ich weiss sie hört das nicht gerne =P). Sophie ist so süss wie schweizer Schokolade (und so dunkel xD), so liebenswert wie ein Welpe (Jööhh-Effekt) und so unvergesslich wie ein Ohrwurm (das Lieb, das einem nicht aus dem Kopf geht ;))! Ich habe mich so an ihre Gesellschaft gewöhnt und kann mir nicht vorstellen, wie ist sein wird ohne sie. 

Sophie dies ist meine Liebeserklärung an dich ;) Du bist einfach UNGLAUBLICH! Ich werde dich vermissen Süsse!

What I'm going to tell you something about a stay with EF: you meet new people, some become friends for a life time, some are your classmates, some of them you won't really like..but most of all you meet people all over the world. When it's time to say goodbye you know which one you'll see again for sure, which you would like to see again and which you're lucky to never ever see again ;)

Although, I know I'll visit Sophie for sure I really don't want her to leave!

I did a bunch of things with her like to go to:

• Santa Monica
• Malibu
• Hollywood
• Downtown LA
• Santa Barbara
• San Francisco
• Cancun, Mexico
• Huntington Beach
• maybe to many times to Hermosa Beach
• get a little tattoo on my finger
• a movie premiere in Hollywood
• pet a shark!!
• shoot a gun for the first time in her life

....I could go on like this for hours.

Sophie is a sweetheart, my sweetheart! She's the baby in our little gang (hahaha ;))! I know she doesn't like to her that but it's true =P. Sophie is as sweet as Swiss chocolate, as lovely as a puppy (awww-effect) and as unforgettable as a catchy tune =) I got so used to her companion, I can't imagine how it's like without her anymore!!

Sophie this is declaration of love from me to you =) You are AMAZING! I'll miss you, sweety!

Ich muss sagen, Los Angeles macht es mir wirklich nicht einfach mit der Musik. Es gibt wie in jedem Land und in jeden meiner bisherigen Ferien ein paar Lieder, die man nach dem hunderdsten Mal einfach nicht mehr hören kann. Ich gebe euch hier eine Kostprobe meiner meist gehassten Lieder, die im Radio oder in Hermosa Beach (das ist der Ausgehort hier) rauf und runter gespielt werden;) :

I have to say, Los Angeles gives me a hard time when it comes to music. It's like in every country or on every vacation I've been, you just can't hear some specific songs anymore after they were played for the hundredst time. Above some examples of my most hated songs which are played in the radio or in Hermosa Beach (where we usually going out) ;)

US Open of Surfing

Hi friends,

Schon am Sonntag, 29. Juli 2012 waren wir in Hungtington Beach, wo das US Open of Surfing stattgefunden hat. Da ich nur wenige Fotos gemacht habe, gabs davon bisher keinen Post. Letzten Sonntag, 5. August 2012 waren wir wieder dort! =) Meine Kamera blieb aber auch dieses mal mehr oder weniger den ganzen Tag in der Tasche. Es gab einfach viel zu viele heisse Typen anzustarren xD Nein im ernst jetzt, ich habe noch nie so viele schöne Menschen auf einmal gesehen! Ich weiss leider daher auch nicht wer in was gewonnen hat...dafür gibt ja aber die Website ;)

Ich empfehle also jedem und jeder ans US Open of Surfing zu gehen ;) hihi

We already went to Huntington Beach on Sunday July 29, 2012 and couldn't resist to go again last Sunday August 5, 2012. The event? The US Open of Surfing!!! I didn't took a lot of photos on both days since I was too busy with staring at all the hot guys xD For real, I've never seen so many beautiful people on one place! Well, that's why I don't know the results of the actual competition...but thanks to the website I don't really have to remember ;)

I recommend to attend the US Open of Surfing to every man and woman ;)
